Trained by the world’s best – open to everyone

I know what it means to take risks – as a “newcomer to the industry,” I trained with Carlos Bonell in London for three years. “Newcomer to the industry” because I always wanted to play rock music, but then studied classical guitar and stumbled into the world elite by chance.

I have been a guitar teacher for 20 years and currently have over 100 students.

Free trial lesson for orientation

In a 30-minute trial lesson, I will clarify three simple questions with you. You do not need to bring your own guitar.

What would you like to learn?

Ms. L. has never played the guitar before and would like to accompany pop songs. Mr. M. has been playing the guitar for a year and is interested in classical pieces. Max is eight years old and wants to play the electric guitar when he grows up.

How would you like to learn?

Ms. L. has little time due to her job. Mr. M. is retired and would like to devote himself entirely to the guitar. Max attends an all-day school.
Everyone is different—I will suggest an individual learning path for you.

What would you like to learn with

Ms. L. doesn’t have a guitar yet. Mr. M. has a guitar but wants to buy a better one. Max should first get a suitable child-sized guitar. I am happy to personally advise you on complete solutions for purchasing a guitar.

To find a good guitar teacher, you have to be willing to travel to the world’s end…

(…but sometimes Hamburg-Eppendorf will do just fine)

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Online lessons – how does it actually work?

First of all, I was never a big fan of online teaching – to be honest, I couldn’t imagine anything more boring than sitting in front of a screen and teaching. Then came the coronavirus lockdown in March 2020, and the only way to continue working was precisely that: online teaching. In the situation at the time, I knew that it had to work, and to my surprise, my students, who had only ever had face-to-face lessons with me before, really enjoyed the online lessons.

How exactly does an online lesson work?

I use Zoom for online lessons, and you will receive a permanent link for all subsequent lessons. You will need to have your guitar ready and, as a rule, the appropriate lesson book—even though the communication channel is modern, we work according to “classical” principles.

My guitar is out of tune and I can't fix it myself. How can online lessons help me?

No problem, I will show you online how to tune your guitar correctly – either I will explain how a tuner works or we will tune the guitar together.

Do I need to be fully visible on camera?

No. If I need to see certain details, I will ask you to briefly change the position of your cell phone/laptop/computer to get the right angle. There is a lot that I don’t necessarily need to see, as some details can simply be heard.

What if the internet connection doesn't work?

Sometimes technical problems can arise. In such cases, I will of course provide you with an alternative appointment.

I would actually prefer to have face-to-face lessons – can I change the teaching mode?

Sure, in both directions – and with complete flexibility. Let’s say you have an online appointment with me on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and then on the same day you realize that you would prefer to come in person. No problem, just send me a text message; the appointment is reserved for you either way. It also works the other way around: you realize that you won’t be able to make it to class on time on Wednesday at 6 p.m. – but you could still attend the appointment online. Again, all you have to do is notify me briefly so that the appointment can take place online.

Sometimes teachers write things down for students in class so that they can remember certain details better. How is this done in online classes?

It’s simple: let’s say you need a note from me – I write it down, take a photo of it, and then send it to you as a photo via WhatsApp. Sometimes it also helps if I record a short video for you, so you can see and hear exactly what I meant – you can also receive videos via WhatsApp.
